The Kantzler Foundation is the largest private charitable foundation in Bay County, Michigan. Since its inception in 1975, its governing board has distributed over $9 million in grants to support worthwhile programs and projects in the Greater Bay Area. Nearly every area resident has been touched by the beneficial investments this foundation has made in our community. The work of the foundation has been a testament to the enormous impact that one generous individual can have on a community long after his death.

Mission Statement:

In carrying out the wishes of Leopold Kantzler, the Kantzler Foundation Trustees make every attempt to stay close to the Bay Area community:

  • To know those who are working to make our area a better place to live, work, play and raise a family.
  • To know what projects are being planned.
  • To understand changing needs and opportunities.
  • To work actively with government, civic, service, educational, and philanthropic organizations to identify fundable projects.
  • When appropriate, to identify needs and opportunities that are not being addressed and to initiate programs and projects to address them.
