The Masonic Temple in downtown Bay City was purchased by the Bay Arts Council with the assistance of a $100,000 matching grant from the Kantzler Foundation.

The purchase of the building by the Bay Arts Council was considered as saving it from the wrecking ball. The Arts Council also received funding from the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The building is currently used for Hell’s Half Mile File Festival presentations and other events that the Bay Arts Council runs annually.

Community Impact

testimonial author Lynn Weaver, Bay Area Women's Center

"We are so fortunate to have the generosity and leadership of The Kantzler Foundation in our community.  Their deep commitment to Bay County has allowed so many non-profit organizations to develop, grow and thrive.

Bay Area Women's Center is especially grateful for Kantzler's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of their clients, volunteers, donors and staff.  The foundation assisted with capital projects from parking lot paving to residential kitchen renovations.  The center is thankful for the critical support of The Kantzler Foundation!"
